The Carnivorous Carnival is the ninth book in the Series of Unfortunate Events book series. It is another of Lemony's fabulous books! In this book the Baudelaire's find themselves dressed up as freaks at the Caligari Carnival. After the long trip in the boot of Count Olaf's car the Baudelaire's are over the moon when the car comes to an abrupt stop at the Caligari Carnival. Once they hear Count Olaf and his associates get out of the car and walk away they quickly get out of the car. They see Count Olaf go into 'Madame Lulu's fortune telling tent' so they decide to go and eavesdrop on the conversation they have. They hear her talking of one of the Baudelaire parents who may possibly be alive. They then hear her talk about the house of freaks, which houses three 'freaks' who put on a show in front of the carnival visitors each day. The freaks are Kevin who is ambidextrous (meaning he can his left and his right arms and legs are both as strong as each other), Hugo who has a hunchback and Colette who is a contortionist. Each day Kevin writes his name with both hands, Hugo tries to put on an average sized coat and Colette moves her body in all kinds of weird ways. Hearing of the freaks gives Violet, Klaus and Sunny the idea to dress up as freaks so they can get into the carnival. They use Count Olaf's disguises to help them. Violet and Klaus dress up as a two headed person and Sunny dresses up as a wolf baby. Violet and Klaus name themselves Beverly and Elliot and Sunny is named Chabo. they get a job in the house of freaks where they are forced to make a fool of themselves everyday. They find out that Madame Lulu ( the fortune teller) is actually a lady who is trying to help them defeat Count Olaf. They make a plan to escape the carnival, but Olaf is making a plan to kill them. Count Olaf's plan is to get some lions (that he already has) and dig a pit to put them in. he then will starve them and at another time the carnival is open they will feed one of the freaks to the lions. They do this and it just so happens that is Violet and Klaus that end up getting chosen. They are on the plank about to be pushed in when a fight arises between two members of the audience. In all the commotion Madame Lulu tries to help the Baudelaire's get off the plank but she ends up falling in (along with Olaf's bald associate) and she gets devoured by the lions. The Baudelaire's are very upset but take the opportunity to run away. But Olaf sees them, and runs after them. He says to them for them top come with him up a mountain with the other freaks and his associates. They accept the offer, thinking that it is there only way to survive. And go along with them. They are pout in a cart which is tied to the back pf the car with a rope and they begin heading up the mountain. They are on there way up the mountain when they see the freaks reach out and cut the rope. They are stuck stranded hanging over a cliff whilst Sunny is being taken away with the freaks and Olaf and his associates...

This is an AWESOME book that I would HIGHLY recommend!
