The hostile Hospital is the eighth book in a sequel of books. It is, yet again, about the sorrow and misfortune of the Baudelaire orphans, Violet, Klaus and Sunny. This time the orphans find themselves sorting books at Heimlich Hospital. they meet a kind old man who runs the library of records named Hal. They here him saying things about the Snicket file and a curious to find out more. They decide to trick Hal into giving them the keys to the library so they can find out more. They find out that one of their parents may have actually survived the fire that destroyed the Baudelaire families mansion. Once again Count Olaf finds out the Baudelaire's whereabouts and starts one of his schemes to get the Baudelaire fortune. This time him, his girlfriend Esme Squalor and his many associates are disguised as doctors and nurses at Heimlich Hospital. There plan is simple, they must catch one of the Baudelaire orphans (in this case Violet) and pretend that she needs and operation. In the procedure they explain that she will need her head cut of and that there is the risk that she may not survive. Of course the Baudelaire's know that this is really all part of a scheme to get the Baudelaire fortune but, once again, no one believes them. So it is up to Klaus and Sunny to save there sister. They decide to disguise themselves as nurses and are put in charge of cutting Violets head off. They stall as much as they can whilst the anaesthetic wears off. Once it wears of the Baudelaire's escape the theatre and manage to escape alive. but now there are lots of people who are trying to get them to take them to the police. Then, to make maters worse, they find out that Count Olaf has set the hospital on fire and the fire is spreading fast. They decide to take the risk of jumping out a window. Tut then Violet spots a medical cord. With her inventing brain (and skills) she makes a bunjeejumping device that she and her siblings use to jump out the window of the hospital. then they make a run for it and jump in the boot of Count Olaf's car, and escape the hospital. but they don't know where they are going with count Olaf and his associates...
