I liked it when Holly Short was scared and her knees wobbled and she fell to the ground.
I loved this book! I just wanted to keep reading. Very excited to continue reading the series.
This book had really good plot twists, with unexpected magic and was riveting from beginning to end.

Eoin Colfer's award winning children's sci fi novel follows the story of Artemis Fowl, a young criminal genius, who discovers a race of underground hi tech fairies. Little does he know fairies are smart, don't like being held ransom, and especially are gold loving, dangerous beings...
This book had marvellous, funny characters and plot lines to die for. Show more Show less

Artemis Fowl is a 12-year-old genius born into the Fowl empire of crime. He is an master of criminal activities and his goal is to continue in his father’s footsteps. With his servant and unstoppable bodyguard, Butler, Artemis plans to restock the family funds with gold… and lots of it! This is no ordinary gold, this is Fairy Gold, but then Artemis is no ordinary 12-year-old boy.
Having secured a copy of ‘The Book’ the fairy bible, Artemis decodes the secrets contained within, allowing him to trap a fairy who has come ‘topside’ from the fairy kingdom underground. Holly Short is a female officer in the LEP fairy police There is amazing technology used on both sides. Root is Holly’s bad-tempered commanding officer. There are big, smelly Trolls and Tunnel Dwarfs that can dig at an amazing rate by unhinging their jaws and eating the soil as they burrow.
Artemis is a very intelligent boy however, he is not yet the hard criminal his father so he remains a likeable and not completely mean character. Butler, his loyal servant is the type of best friend you dream of having, capable of saving you from any sticky situation. Holly Short is a LEPrechaun officer and has had years of intense and specialised training. This book is extremely enjoyable and has just the perfect balance of fantasy, humour, gadgets and thrills to keep every reader entertained. I really enjoyed my time with this book, and if you liked Harry Potter then I bet you will like Artemis Fowl too.
The fun with this book is watching Artemis Fowl and the fairies trying to outwit each other, starting off with a reasonably mild plan but raising the stakes with each move. It's usually fun watching a genius' plan fail and seeing how they respond, and Colfer does a great job of this. The characters are interesting and intelligent with plenty of confidence and energy.
In conclusion, Artemis Fowl is entertaining and enjoyable to read with likable characters and an interesting battle of wits. Once you start reading you won’t want to put it down and be warned, another trick of Artemis Fowl’s is that his book is highly addictive! Show more Show less

I think it’s amazing.
It was intense from the start. I love all the plot twists and the alterations, changing the story to take it in directions I never thought would happen.
I am not a huge fan of this book but quite a few of my friends really like it.
Loved this book
