This book is heartwarming and really gives you an idea of what it was like to be on the ship, 'The Lusitania'. It also shows that even though people were on opposite sides of the war and were meant to be enemies they sometimes showed kindness to each other. In this story that is proved when a German submarine picks up a girl, alone in the middle of the ocean who is English and saves her life.
I was glued to this for three hours so I could finish it. In some parts it was so sad I started sobbing- I felt I was experiencing everything Merry (the main character) was!

This book is amazing!! One of the best World War Two novels I have ever read.
This story time jumps alot, which can make a book annoying to read and hard to understand but Michael Morpurgo executes it beautifully. There are just enough similarities between the two worlds that you can tell that they're connected but not so many as to ruin the aspect of mystery that time jumping brings to a story.

A beautiful story of remembrance that comes together for one of the most unexpected endings evere.
