This books is all about Sasha, a six year old boy who joins the Russian army in WWII.His family are all killed by the nazi's so one of the soldiers in his group becomes his adoptive or 'Papa Scruff' as Sasha calls him. He gradually becomes older until the war finally ends and Hitler surrenders. On the way, he meets a camel called Tolstoy and Tolstoy, Papa Scruff and Sasha plan on going back to Russia together after the war. But, tragedy strikes and all of the soldiers end up in hospitals all over Germany. How will they find each other again? And will they? Show more Show less
