The Gruffalo's child stepped into the deep, dark woods, but the Gruffalo grabbed her and said "No Gruffalo should ever step into the deep, dark woods!" She asked why? The Gruffalo answered "Because the Big Bad Mouse will be after you!" And he dragged his child back into the cave.
But one snowy night, the Gruffalo's child went into the deep, dark woods to find the Big Bad Mouse. She went past a fox and thought his whiskers were the mouse's. The fox said that the Big Bad Mouse was somewhere drinking 'Gruffalo tea'. So she kept looking and saw an owl. She thought the owl's eyes were the Big Bad Mouse, but the owl said that he was eating 'Gruffalo pie' nearby! So she kept looking and saw a snake. The Gruffalo's child thought his tail was the Big Bad Mouse, but the snake again said he wasn't.
The Gruffalo's child then thought it was all a joke!
Then she saw a mouse and tried to catch it for dinner. The mouse said she knew the Big Bad Mouse, then he stepped on a twig, and his shadow reflected down. The Gruffalo's child thought it was the Big Bad Mouse, and she ran back inside the cave!
My favourite part is when the Gruffalo's child thought that the fox's whiskers, the owl's eyes, and snake's tail all belonged to the Big Bad Mouse!

What I like about the book is when it rhymes and when the dad was sleeping she sneakily sneak out. The gruffalos dad said never set foot in the deep dark woods. At the last minute the gruffalos child thought the big bad mouse was not real and then a little mouse came and his shadow was so big! Show more Show less

The brilliant story following The Gruffalo about a brave young Gruffalo who goes in search of the Big Bad Mouse. A follow on that stays true to the original story.
